Still afraid? See below.
There are conflicting studies about the risk of accidents on Friday the 13th. The Dutch Centre for Insurance Statistics (CVS) on June 12, 2008, stated that “fewer accidents and reports of fire and theft occur when the 13th of the month falls on a Friday than on other Fridays, because people are preventatively more careful or just stay home. Statistically speaking, driving is slightly safer on Friday the 13th, at least in the Netherlands; in the last two years, Dutch insurers received reports of an average 7,800 traffic accidents each Friday; but the average figure when the 13th fell on a Friday was just 7,500.” However, a 1993 study in the British Medical Journal that compared the ratio of traffic accidents between Friday the 6th and Friday the 13th stated that there is a significant increase in traffic-related accidents on Friday the 13th.There are indications that there are more accidents on Fridays than average weekdays (irrespective of the date) probably because of alcohol consumption. Therefore it is less relevant for this purpose to compare Friday the 13th with any other 13th day of another month. (check wiki)

Which CMS to use

Part 2. WordPress

If you need a platform for personal page, blog or website with a blog, we would suggest you to choose a WordPress template. WordPress is a very popular CMS engine, that gains more and more popularity nowadays.

Originally WordPress was developed as a blog platform, so it’s the best CMS to use if you need a blog or site with blog/news/latest articles. It has a lot of useful blog functions by default: blog categories, comments, post tags, display post date, author, calendar of posts etc. You’ll be able to approve new comments, allow users post comments after registration, add posts beforehand and publish them at later date, display short teasers of full posts (excerpts) with Read More buttons and use a lot of other useful options for blog.

On the other hand, WordPress is very good for usual sites as well. WordPress admin page is considered to be the easiest among all of free CMS platforms. You’ll need just a few hours to learn how to add posts and pages.

If you need to add a custom module/plugin/function you’ll be able to add it through admin page to template widget areas. WordPress templates may contain different number of widget areas. If you check templates preview, you’ll see widgets map in the bottom of template page. Default WordPress plugins are: recent posts, popular posts, calendar, archives, categories, tag cloud, RSS, recent comments. Search bar comes by default as well.

Another amazing function of WordPress is one source of all external plugins/add-ons. It’s possible to download them easily from the official site (so called ‘one-click installation’). The system will notify you when new versions of your plugins are issued, thus you’ll be able to update them by one click and always use latest secure versions.

Adding content is pretty easy: fill in post name, post article, choose category for the post in the right and click a button to publish the post. Native visual editor has basic functions you might need: bold, italic, list, text color, alignment (left, right, center, full width), custom characters etc. If you want to add an image and make it ‘featured’ (visitors will see it next to short story text on your blog page), the system will resize it automatically. Thus all blog posts will have the same style (same image size and layout) without any extraordinary efforts :).

If you use WorpPress template for your site, you’ll be able to change user roles from usual registered users to editors of your site. Unfortunately WordPress doesn’t provide any options to change layout or add different blocks on different pages through admin page. If you choose to build your site with WordPress, all content pages will have the same sidebars, footer and header, just content part will be different. Though modern WordPress templates allow you to choose different layouts for content pages.

Assigning SEO friendly URL’s (URL’s like instead of is not difficult as well. It’s possible to set a template for all links structure and change any link URL during adding new pages.

Overall, if you need a website that is easy to manage and update, we would suggest you to use WordPress CMS as a platform for your site.

Which CMS to use

Part 1. Joomla!

Customers always ask, “Which CMS is better? What CMS should I use?”. Everybody wants to get maximum functionality and flexibility for editing the site. The truth is that it’s merely possible to choose the best one. Like it’s impossible to choose the best car for your wife or the best dress for the next party.

Every CMS platform allows you to do some things easily, but you might need tech skills (or use an add-on’s) to do other things. Choosing of a platform for your future site depends on your needs. We’ll try to make a short guide about default features of all CMS systems we’re using with our templates (Joomla!, Drupal, WordPress). All CMS templates include online admin page, that allows you to edit content using visual editors.

Let’s start with the Queen of all CMS platforms – Joomla!. Marketing researches say, that Joomla! CMS is the most popular CMS nowadays.
Using this CMS is good for sites with complex page layouts. Module position system allows you to place different add-on’s on different pages. For example, you can add a poll in the left sidebar on one page and add menu at the same place on another page.

Joomla! has default page layouts for single article layout, blog (without comments), category list, category section, archive and wrapper. It’s possible to add additional menus without editing php code. You can use embedded modules for breadcrumbs, banners, feeds, latest news, customer login, ‘most read’, polls, random image, related articles, ‘who is online’. You’ll be able to add standard search field and contact form as well.

Native visual editor has all the necessary features you might need for editing site articles (see below). Joomla! templates allow you to display/hide article author name, publication date, icons for print, ‘save as pdf’ and ‘e-mail to a friend’ for each article. It’s possible to add keywords for search engines (meta keywords).

Using Joomla! CMS templates you can also add different types of users to your site (registered, editors, administrators etc). So it’s not a problem to provide publishing rights to your friends or just site visitors.

The next amazing Joomla! feature is setting the site offline:) Site visitors will see a special Offline Message and a log in form. If you login, you’ll see the site or will be able to edit it as administrator. It’s a very useful feature, as you can turn the site down for visitors while you’re populating Joomla! template with your content.

Joomla! has good customer reviews as well. We have a lot of customers that used Joomla! for their first site. They were really excited to create full sites themselves without any html editing skills.
